“Art Never Comes from Happiness”

I want to talk to you about the work of my favourite writer: Chuck Palahniuk.
I’m going to start with Choke, the novel, and the movie based in it (coming September 26th!).
“Victor Mancini, a medical-school dropout, is an antihero for our deranged times. Needing to pay elder care for his mother, Victor has devised an ingenious scam: he pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be ’saved’ by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor’s life, go on to send checks to support him. When he’s not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial theme park. His creator, Chuck Palahniuk, is the visionary we need and the satirist we deserve”.
Hilarious as ever, “what would jesus not do?” Is what Victor ask himself.
“After a couple pages, you won’t want to be here. So forget it. Go away. Get out while you’re still in one piece”. That’s how the book begins. And, you know, that’s exactly how I feel since I got the bright idea of contracting my Dedicated Server Service with Liquid Web. I’m sure that Colonial Dunsboro is funnier than my office (at least, there’s a lot more things to do there).
I can’t wait to see the movie, and also, I’m affraid…”because nothing is as perfect as you imagine it”.
